Ms. Riley
Welcome to second grade at Polo Ridge! My name is Kelly Riley and I will be your child’s teacher this year. This will be my eleventh year at Polo Ridge. Over the course of the next year you are going to see a remarkable change in your child. My goal is for our students to embrace a love of learning. We will explore new concepts in reading, math, science, and social studies. I am so excited about the opportunity to get to know your child and I am looking forward to the wonderful year ahead of us.
I have lived in Charlotte for most of the past 25 years. I have two children. My son Jack is in ninth grade and my daughter Jordan is in eleventh grade at Ardrey Kell High School. Teaching elementary school is actually a second career for me. I spent 11 years as a Director of Human Resources where much of my responsibility was in professional development. At the same time I taught part time at Central Piedmont Community College. After a few years of teaching preschool, I decided this was the career for me. I earned a Masters degree in education from UNC Charlotte and have enjoyed every moment of teaching Elementary school.
I am very excited to get our year started! The students and I will work very hard to establish classroom standards and expectations together. Building a positive learning environment is very important to me so each child is comfortable and able to learn to their full potential.
